My First Six Months

My first six months of life were rough ones indeed. Seems that people think that Jack Russell pups are soooooo adorable, which we are. What they don't realise is that we take alot of time, patience and work. For their efforts we give loyalty, love and devotion. All we ask for is love and to give love in return, trusting animals that we are. My humans should be listed as saints for all they have to put up with from me (tho don't let them read this page). Kylie, a Jack Russell web friend, has been through similar situations as a pup. If my story doesn't bring it home, then her story certainly will. Please visit Kylie's Home Page!!!!!

My humans took me in when I was six months old. Boy did they get more than they bargained for. There are no baby photos of me before then as I was shipped around to 5 different homes before I found my present castle. It seems that one owner left me in a crate out of doors for a few days, another tied me to the heating register in the kitchen on a chain. I was rescued by a very kind person who took me into their home and treated me with kindness until a real home could be found for me.

My humans tell me that they were asked if they wanted a dog. My mom and dad LOVE dogs and when they saw yours truly, they couldn't resist. They needed me as much as I needed them. It took me a while to realise I finally had a permanent and loving home, but when I did I couldn't have been happier.

I can only hope and pray that other people take time to THINK about bringing any dog or pup into their house. We are a responsibility and a friend for life, not something you just dispose of when you don't have the patience nor time to deal with us. We have so much love to give and it hurts when we are abused or abandoned. Remember, we are not perfect....we have accidents, make mistakes. But teach us with kindness and we will repay with loyalty and devotion.

I know that pure breeds are nice, but very expensive in some places. If you want a pure breed, choose from a reputable breeder and not a pet shop. This way we can put an end to those horrid puppy mills. But first and foremost, I HIGHLY recommend that if you feel you can give time, love and attention to a four legged friend, to first visit your local Animal Shelter. There are so many dogs in need of good homes and who have so much love to give. Look in your local area for the shelter nearest you. Here are some organisations that will be able to help you find a local shelter and a loving friend for life no matter what side of the pond you are on.

Please visit The Dog Rescue Pages below for some good information and advice on giving a rescue dog a good and loving home.
